Goodstart Job Application Privacy Terms

Important Information: Only submit your details if you agree to the below terms.

Please read this statement carefully. In submitting an application or registering interest for employment with Goodstart you will be required to provide Goodstart with personal information, including application data and contact details. Goodstart requires you to provide accurate information and disclose any details essential for Goodstart’s evaluation of your suitability for a position to maintain our commitment as Child Safe Organisation.

Goodstart respects the privacy of individuals whose personal information is collected, used and managed in the course of the recruitment and employment process. Personal information about you may include your contact details, references, work history, qualifications, psychometric test results, police and health checks.

Information you provide through the recruitment process is collected for the primary purpose of assessing and administering your application for employment in accordance with Goodstart's recruitment and administrative practices. The information may also be used for a related secondary purpose in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. This includes:

  • to communicate with you in relation to your application,
  • to comply with any legal or regulatory obligations,
  • to monitor and review Goodstart’s recruitment practices, and
  • for planning purposes.

In submitting your application, you may provide Goodstart with the personal information of others (e.g. the names and contact details of your referees). You are encouraged to inform them that you are disclosing that information to Goodstart.

The information in your application must be true, accurate and up-to-date. It must not be misleading or deceptive (or likely to mislead or deceive). If the information in your application is false or misleading your employment may be terminated.

Goodstart's Privacy Policy covers the collection, storage, use, disclosure and security of personal details of our applicants and employees. We explain how and when we collect personal information, what that information is used for, who uses it and when it may be disclosed to other parties. As part of the application process, Goodstart may need to collect a variety of your personal information. This information:

  • may be collected from previous employers and their current and former employees (for the purpose of reference checking, and with your approval), educational institutions for the purposes of verifying results and qualifications, training and assessment organisations, medical practitioners and psychologists engaged to undertake medical assessments, internet searches, and related entities within Goodstart’s corporate structure.
  • may be disclosed in confidence to trusted third party service providers, who provide recruitment or other services to us to assist us in operating our business (including reference checking agencies, legal advisors and technology service providers). We will take reasonable steps to ensure these service providers do not breach the Australian Privacy Principles. These providers may be based overseas or use overseas infrastructure to perform services for us, including in the U.S.A., Singapore and New Zealand.
  • may be disclosed to other parties where required by law
  • will be securely stored
  • will be destroyed in accordance with a disposal authority approved by the State Records Commission under the State Records Act 2000 (WA)
  • will be collected in relation to the job for which the applicant is applying, and any other suitable positions which may become available within Goodstart within 12 months of your application

You are responsible for all uses of your login and password when using Goodstart’s recruitment management system. Please keep them confidential and notify us if you are aware of their unauthorised use.

In order to help Goodstart fulfil its obligations under Occupational Health and Safety legislation, you agree to fully disclose any disability, medical condition or injury which may affect your ability to perform the inherent requirements of this position, and/or require Goodstart to consider reasonable adjustments in the workplace, and/or pose a risk to your health and safety, and/or the health and safety of your fellow employees in the workplace.

Any offer of employment will be subject to Goodstart being satisfied that you are able to meet the inherent requirements of the job. In determining this Goodstart may require you to:

  • undergo a medical examination by a practitioner selected by Goodstart, including drug and alcohol testing, and
  • provide documentary evidence of your qualifications, identity, criminal history and right to work in Australia

During the job application process, Goodstart (or its appointed third party service provider) may need to confirm your visa / immigration status and your right to work in Australia. If you are a visa holder, this is done through the Department of Home Affairs’ Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service. VEVO is an online facility that allows us to check your visa entitlements and right to work. The terms and conditions of use of VEVO require that your consent be obtained prior to collecting information about you.

By conducting a VEVO inquiry, we will obtain certain information about you, namely your name, date of birth, passport details and visa status. If you are not entitled to be in Australia, the Australian government may use the VEVO account details to locate you. By accepting these terms, you also consent to Goodstart (or its appointed third party service provider) undertaking a VEVO enquiry, as required, throughout the application process.

If your application is successful, Goodstart will retain your information which will become part of your employment records. If your application is unsuccessful, Goodstart will retain your information on the recruitment management system. Goodstart may use this information to assess your suitability for other employment opportunities with Goodstart. You have a right to access personal information that Goodstart holds about you, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation. If you wish to seek access to your personal information or inquire about the handling of your personal information, please contact Talent Acquisition via email on recruitment@goodstart.org.au.

If you do not accept the above terms we will not be able to engage with you in relation to working at Goodstart.
